eLerts are issue from three organizations with in the Clearlake Township. The township itself, Village of Riverton, and Riverton Fire and EMS are all issuers of their own specific emergency/non-emergency notifications. With in all of these organizations certain positions are in charge of issuing eLerts.
Clearlake Township’s eLert is, by design, used for emergency alerting which means that there is not a steady amount of eLerts every month. However the average amount of eLerts is six with the most being twelve in one month.
How can I be sure that eLert will be delivered to my phone or email?
Upon signing up for eLerts you will be sent a successful notification message to your respective phone number or e-mail account. Also during the first Tuesday of the month, also the day for Riverton's Tornado Siren Tests, a test message will be sent assuring that our system is currently working.
Do I have to live in Clearlake Township/Riverton Area to receive eLerts?
No you do not have to live in the area to receive these alerts. If you have family members' or friends that live in the Clearlake Township or you work in the Clearlake Township you may sign up to receiving these alerts. This is free service and anyone may subscribe.

Please remember eLerts are free to anyone and you do not have to live in the township to register.
Will I receive eLerts from other parts of the township?
Yes. Currently the system is setup to send eLerts to everyone in the township no matter where the alert is for. This may be a benefit for those users that don't have email, cell phone, or computer accessibility. Example: My mother and father live in Riverton, but don't have a computer or a cell phone. I can call them when I receive eLerts to notify them about what is going on and to make sure the are ok.
This system is only a supplement to current emergency alerting such as television, radio, and tornado sirens. Please use one of the previous methods to receive information regarding emergencies in your area.
Why is Riverton Fire and EMS hosting the Township’s eLert system?
Riverton Fire and EMS has the hardware, capacity, and redundancy to host the software. They have emergency battery backup power along with an emergency power generation to keep the system running during a power outage. They also have two forms of Internet service for redundancy as well.
How much will I be charged for the text messages (SMS Messages) received from the eLert system?
This will very from phone to phone companies and your cellular service provider as well as your plan with your cellular provider. You will need to contact your cellular service provider to determine the cost, if any.
What if I do not have text messaging (SMS messaging)?
You can still receive email messages and desktop notification. Alternatively, you may contact you cellular provider to see about having text messaging added to your cell phone plan.
What phone number will the text messages come from?
When receiving eLerts to your phone the sender will be a series of digits such as 1010100011. These numbers will change and are not a static number or name.
Why didn’t I receive a conformation email message?
If you have not received an email stating that you have signed up then you might have one of two issues. First you must add elert@rafpd.org to your address book or unblocked e-mail folder to insure that it is not forwarded to your spam folder. After adding your e-mail to your unblocked or address book please wait for the monthly test on the first Tuesday of the month. Secondly you might have incorrectly typed your e-mail upon entry and you will need to contact the Clearlake Township at admin@clearlaketownship.net or 217-523-4210.
ELerts email address is elert@rafpd.org. Please do not respond to this email as it is not checked and you will not receive a reply. If you need further assistance please contact the Clearlake Township at admin@clearlaketownship.net or 217-523-4210.
Why can I not run the computer desktop notification client in Windows Vista or Windows 7?
Due to security setting pre-programmed into Windows Vista and Windows 7 you must run the notification client as the administrator. To run the program permanently as the administrator for every time you open the application please right click on the respective eLert icon, then click properties, and then the compatibility tab and check mark Run as administrator and then apply.
